    Welcome to IL. If you are truly interested in helping with design and pattern making, I suggest that you post your works in the Sewing & tailoring sub forum of Hobbies, Arts and Crafts Forum. I am sure there will be a lot of response there. All the best.

    Here i have tried to explain a basic plain kurti with the help of a paper pattern.

    For stitching a basic kurti first take the following important measurements.
    Ch or chest measurements,Sh or shoulder measurements,WL or the waist length which can be taken from the back neck point to the waist.Next is your WR i.e.waist round measurement then HL is hip length which is always 1/2 of WL ,now the measurement for the Hip round HR, and the flair you want at the bottom of the kurti.

    here I have taken a basic measurement chart to explain you
    FL(full length)=Ch+4
    Ch=36
    Sh=14
    WL=14
    WR=28
    HL=1/2 of WL=7"
    HR=40"
    FN(front neck)=6"
    BN(back neck)=5"
    NW(neck width)=3"
    Flair=30"

    Now according to the measurements make the pattern using the following formulae.
    These measurements are done according to a basic kurti they may wary.

    AB=FL=40"
    AC=1/2 of sh=7
    AE=1/2of WL=7
    AE=CD;AC=ED
    EF=1/4 Ch=9"
    E1F1=1/4 of WR=7
    E2F2=1/4of HR=10
    E1E2=HL=7
    BG=1/2of flair =15
    Nw=1/12ch =3
    BN=1/12 ch+2 according to the given measurements=5
    FN=1/12 Ch+3 " "=6

    Now trace the pattern accordingly on a brown sheet leaving 1" seam allowance for stitching.on all sides.
