Right now I am practicign saree with slipper.

When I go out I wear flats

I plan to wear saree when I reach office and then remove it before I go home for the day.

Hence I am not wearing saree while traveling on the dirty mass transit

Right now I am learning to better control and spread my pleats, but it is the saree length that is wiping my efforts

    Either the saree is
    - too high off the ground
    - spilling on the floor

Please please please give advice on how to fix this.

I spent nearly 30 minutes trying to figure this out.

    Please please please advise.

I hope to drape a yellow cotton saree by end of Oct for office Diwali party

If I am really clever, I hope to drape black cotton saree in first week of Oct, most likely a Friday (my office doesn't mind if it is on a Monday!)

    Ladies please!!!!!!

I’m not sure I understand the problem.
Put on the shoes that you’ll be wearing with the sari. Then wear your petticoat so it just skims the ground. Your sari will now be at the correct height.

My petticoats are few inches off the ground.

When I order them, or they come with sarees they are always too long for me.

Now I am wondering if I should add lace trim to extend the height of the petticoats which I should have never trimmed in the first place!

In India you can buy petticoats of different lengths or the tailor will make one to match the sari. You should look for a brand that will fit from your waist to the floor. Once you find one that fits buy several colors so you will be set for all your saris.

In USA I only have Amazon and Mirraw

    From Amazon
1 cotton petticoat for $20. Cut it down to size
2 satin petticoat for $10 each. Cut it down to size

    From Mirraw
1 saree came with $1 petticoat. Cut it down to size
1 saree cam with $1 petticoat that fits perfect.

So how do I know which brand to buy. Or rather if petticoat is too long, now I know not to cut it so short

Dolly Jain always advertises her D'coat. When I got to site they are too long and start at $20. So that means I have to cut it down to size again.

I have anxiety about spending $$$ unnecessarily, plus it is taking up so much room in my closet, I have to get clothes organizers

Of course there are people who wear sarees on top of leggings (so I have seen on Crime Patrol) and hot pants (Kajol the actress was wearing hot pants under her saree)

I wish I had someone IRL to assist ......

7 please are there in your post:tongueclosed:
    I'm not sure why I counted:facepalm:

I can see you are developing an obsession over saree draping.

Then wear flats at home and try. Infact since it's just flats you might as well try barefoot.

For October end Or beginning : don't drape the saree on same day. Do all the pleats, pin it, fold it and keep it ready. (Youtube video available for same)On the the D Day spend most time Adjusting the pre pleated saree to the perfect level. Perhaps with flats, without flats, with heels etc.

Make your petticoats at the right size. Then tuck the saree into the petticoat as per the required size. Always wear the sandals/heals while wearing the saree.

Certainly a great idea. Once I get pleating down packed I will prepleat and then take to wherever and wear it right then and there.

I am obsessed because online makes it seem easy but I struggle and struggle. When I struggle I only think of how to solve the problem.
