Lets say that you want to add a link to your signature like below

    Tell-A-Friend

    Here are the steps.
    1. Click on "User CP" above
    2. Click on "Edit Signature" on the top left
    3. Type "Tell-A-Friend" on the signature box.
    4. Select the text "Tell-A-Friend"
    5. Click on [IMG]icon
    6. It will popup a box to add the URL (site address). Type the URL(address) to any page "within IL" and say ok.
    7. Click "Save Signature" and you are done!

Also, refer "how do I create link to an existing message in IL?"

PS: Do not add links to external sites outside IL. It will be moderated as per our site policy.

    Hi Malathy,

When I give link to the post beneath my signature, it appears with the complete url link instead of just the title. I wanna only the name of the post to appear in the link. Can you help?

    Hi Mals,

I have edited your signature to show the name of your post. See if that is how you wanted.

You need to use the tags properly. Alternately, you can use this [IMG]icon as explained above around the text you want to be linked.

    Hi Mals,

Looks like you haven't yet got it...for I saw another URL in your signature, instead of a linked title. I fixed it now.

Check out the changes I have done to your signature.

    Dear Malathy,

Thanks a ton for correcting the mess.

Previously, I could add the link successfully as I know how to go about it. Recently, when I follow the same procedure, I get the complete URL address instead of the post title. I tried many times to add a link under the signature and also add a link in a post, I end up with the URL address.

For adding link to the signature I follow the following steps:

Click open the post and copy the link
    USER CP
    EDIT SIGNATURE
    CLICK THE "HYPERLINK" ICON
    A SMALL BOX OPENS UP
    PASTE THE LINK AND SAVE
    I AM DONE

For adding link of any post in a new post
Click open the post whose link I need to add to the new post and copy the link
Open the post to which I need to add the link
    Click "hyperlink"
    Paste the link and save

When i save the post or the signature finally, I end up with URL... Am I missing something...

    Malspie,

Yes, you seem to be missing the title that you want to appear as a link. I have modified your steps below. Take a look.

Within a post, when you just give a link to the entire thread (not even required to use ' insert link' icon, just copy-paste the URL of the thread), it automatically converts to Thread title as a link there.

But when you want to give a link to a particular post (that you get from 'permalink' on the top right of the post), either in your signature or in your post, you need to first type the title that has to appear as link. Select it and then click on insert link icon and give the URL there.

Thanks Malathy, lemme try it and get back to you.

One more point, I have seen members with so many links to their posts, when I try to add a link, it says you cannot add any more link, though I have only three links to my signature compared to others.. What could be the reason?

It isn't the number of links the constraint, it is the size of the links. You may be trying to add huge links. Try shorter ones.
