    25. Include few energy balls for your kids at the end of your breakfast. It convinces their sweet tooth and also gives them power packed energy for the day. make it a mandatory menu. Grind channa dhal and sugar, melt ghee and fry little cashews or some folic acid rich nuts and shape them into balls. These are all quite common in south.Check our krishnammas sweet recipes for similar varieties out of sooji, moong dhal & peanuts.

    26. Include a brinjal recipe for sure when cooking chicken or mutton.Because it helps in reducing the fat sedimenting in our body.

    27. Add a teaspoon of methi while cooking dhal. The dhal doesn't gets spoiled easily and comes for long hours due to this and also adds a flavour. Moreover the medicinal values of methi are: It helps to reduce unwanted fat and keep your sugar level under-control.

    28. Indulge in natural sweetness. Make use of beetroot juice or mango pulp or pineapple chunks or apple pulp while kneading rotis either as stuffing or as a chutney(sweet & sour) or directly along with the flour. It gives a yummy taste and flavour.Kids enjoy these kind of dishes.

    Ninth set :-

    29. Eating in banana leaf is the healthiest habit, which is not possible for all. So we better make use of it in some other way. We would have heard steaming fish in banana leaf. What more could make that recipe healthy. Guess people from bengal would have practiced it. Also few banana dishes and rice cake dishes are steamed similarly. Will check them and share in appropriate forum very soon.

    30. Add all healthy flours while making rotis like wheat, corn, maize, bajra, jowar and so on little little which we hesitate to make use separately.

    31. Add mint and jeera flavour in maximum ways. the benefits goes like...helps in digestion, avoids cavity problem, helps in maintaining fitness, acts as an anti-oxidant. At home we used to drink water boiled with little jeera or omum. So the intake becomes mandatory. Try to garnish dishes with mint as we do using coriander leaves.

    Tenth Set :-

    32. Avoid frying onions for stir fries or dry curries instead allow them cook along with veggies with enough water...finally we can few drops of oil for finishing..this avoids unnecessary oil. for recipes like sambar too my mom sautes onions and tomatoes just for few seconds in very little oil and allows it cook in enough dhal and water..by the time all gets blended and sure you will not find a difference.

    33. for any gravy or curry saute onions first then add chilli powder and spice powders at a point of time it might require oil, now add the chopped tomatoes instead of adding it earlier..the moisture in tomatoes helps the powders cook well thus avoiding oil

    34. with peels and skins of few veggies like ridge gourd, chow-chow we make chutneys which most of the kids refuse to taste...one healthy trick is to use this a spread in bread; but top with little onions and cucumber and without fail spread enough cheese in the other bread and make a grilled sandwich..sure they will enjoy due to the taste of cheese..@ times we add little sauce/ketchup instead of cheese. cut the bread slices into funny shapes to make it more interesting

    Dear Kavitha,

This is what I will suggest but it is always better to ask an expert. If oats do not satisfy you, try the soya burger, the recipe is given in the original thread itself. You can add more veggies to it. Through my experience it satisfied me for 2-3 hours.

    2. You can keep nuts and fruits with you to munch on the way, that will prevent extreme hunger till lunch time and which in turn will stop you from over eating at lunch/dinner.

    3. Sprouts,veggie/paneer roti rolls are good options for lunch at the go.

The best thing is you are in marketing field. So if that involves running around you are already burning calories.

Please do not go below 1200 calories a day. There are many websites like DesiDieter or caloriecount which will help you calculate you calorie requirement for a day and how much you should consume to reach your target. I use CalorieCount.

    Hope this helps.

    Hi shiva,

Soya burger :crazy..sure it must be filling .. Will try it soon and update you my feedback..

In our office canteen they have an option called diet sandwich...

Which has full of steamed corns, spinach, diet cheese, green chillies and few chunks of steamed veggies on a brown bread..If you have it for breakfast around 8.30 till 11.30 you'll never have the urge for munching something..in fact helps in balancing the lunch:thumbsup

    Eleventh set:-

    35. Most of us have an urge to eat non-veg foods. Sea food never has a restriction but when it comes to chicken or mutton sure we should find a way out to escape. Rather than having it as a fry or gravy let us pressure cook with necessary masala and make it as a kheema. Use just half or even less quantity fromt he routine.Once cooled beat egg whites and make it like a bhurji along with the cooked meat. use this as a stuffing for rolls or parathas. We get a satisfaction of what we eat and also the quantity gets reduced. Instead of egg white we can add paneer or tofu too.
