    dear jai

    talk about chennai
    and we have roads widened
and trees felled all in the name
    of more greedy space...
we want the govt to be responsible...

much as we are against felling of trees
we love to travel fast really fast
    in cars...!! and personal vehicles
thanks for stepping into the shade...!! here..

    Sathya,

I :bowdown to you for your passionate efforts to create awareness about our environment in the IL community. That is a huge social responsibility that you have chosen to carry on your shoulders. Kudos to that.

I wish I could go do my part and water the trees in my backyard now but in the interests of our environment, I am not going to. Believe it or not, our plants simply wither when I walk in their direction. Why they are allergic to me, I don't know. But as a 'hats off' gesture to you, I will go remind him to water those green friends waiting outside.

Btw, I love the clever marketing plan to lure people in by referring to the big bucks in the title. Prodigious!:thumbsup

    plants are trees
do not have any allergy towards people
especially who water, love and nurture them
it might have been just stray incidents
that have something to do with weather
    or soil

    take heart sing a song
    and plant a tree
    it sure will grow strong

    Hi Sathya,
just tumbled on this thread, a good and timely one!
I can say that I have planted 2 coconut trees in my life time and am seeing them bearing nuts. Another thing is- my house in Chennai has 3 large and one small mango trees, 8 coconut trees and a large neem tree. And other plants too. Though it is very difficult to get someone to clean the garden of the leaves etc., I could not think of cutting down any one of them. This is all I could do as my duty.
In the last 3 years, I witnessed the felling of lots of trees in my neighbourhood- to build apartments. One of the place was inhabited by my in laws some years back and I remember my father in law watering those trees by drawing water from the well manually. I could not eat for a couple of days then.
We have decided that we will not do that in our life time and also we are instilling the same thought in our son's mind too.

    Dear Sathya,

Don't know about lakhs and millions but surely know about the pleasure of seeing a sapling turn into a tree. If there is any hobby that excites me, it sure is gardening. Let me confess that I am not a hands on gardner, my husband is the one. But both of us take pleasure in growing plants and planting bushes and trees. I am glad to say that wherever we have resided, we have taken pains to plant trees, bushes, flowering plants, veggies and bulbs and have been equally rewarded by these wonderful creation of God when they in return enthralled us with fruit, flower and plush greenery.

    L, Kamla

    dear varoo

meeting here after a very long time
    i see

    two trees by you
    and so many more...

    more than the count
    the trees i mean...
    there's a lot of love
a sort of good will in nature
    that goes around
    when we plant/nurture nature
    especially trees that stand the
    test of time
    despite our greediness for space

only now we are onto bore wells
i remember when we were kids
drawing water to water the plants
used to be fun...especially in summer..
the parched ground greedy for little buckets...
thank you and nice to see you here

    sathya
