I am a learner of hand embroidery, now only learning basic stitches.. Nowadays, embroidery machines came with many options. How do you think hand embroidery is varied from machine embroidery. Can we put any type stitches in machine embroidery or is there any limitation for it? PS: asking this to know more about why still hand embroidery is so special even though embroidery machines came..
Hi @HakumaMatata Yes there is some limitation in machine embroidery. Only a handful of stitches can be made. But hand embroidery has lots and lots of stitches available. But hand embroidery is more time consuming than machine embroidery. I hope embroidery experts of IL might give you more details on this subject. Happy learning!! Hope to see your work on IL. Regards. chitra
Hi Friend, I would like to post my opinion here for your questions... Im a great fan of Hand Embroidery.. As Chitra said, only a few stitches can be made in machine embroidery, whereas tons of stitches are there in hand embroidery. Another point is though hand embroidery is time consuming, it lasts longer than machine embroidery and I do personally feel that the finish will be too good. Also using embelishments like stones, kundans, beads and zardosis in between our designs are more easier in hand embroidery. A lot of tradional hand embroideries of India like Chikankari, Kutch, Kasuti, Phulkari will keep you busy in learning and being more creative... My opinion may differ from those of machine embroidery lovers... but for me Hand Embroidery is the best... Hope this helps u in some way.. Happy Embroidery... With regards,
I feel hand embroidery has nice finishing looks elegant where as machine embroidery looks artificial . Am sorry if i hurt but i feel hand embroidery lasts long
Thanks @InduVioletta for reply.. It is my long doubt, why people go for hand embroidery even though they have machine to do the same work.. You have cleared it.. Thanks.. But still I love to know more about hand embroidery..
@paramlav, Thanks for the reply... Happy to know that hand embroidery is unique even though machines came to do its same work...
