    Patiala salwar, Pathani, Peshawari, anarkali and short ktutis are in vogue now.
    Other than that you can team up your kurta , dupatta with jeans.

    You can try Fab India, Fountain plaza, better still get them stiched. You can pick up material at Nalli , Pothy's, Kumaran.

    You can also try "Her Choice" on TTK Road opp Sankara Hall. They have a lovely collection of materials and an inhouse tailor as well.

    Stitching kurtis didnt work out for me ..so far

    I shooped at Chennai silks...the fitting was good but not a whole lotsa collections...my size being XL....:help

    Me being in Chrompet..shopping around in different areas of the city is difficult for me with my 3 yr old...

    so I always prefer 1 stop shopping....

    Hi girls,
    I am not from Chennai, but when I was there for few months I found great clothes in Saravana Stores for very less unbelievable price, ex. excellent trendy readymade kids' frocks for just Rs.40 (these still look new). You may want to pick and choose the materials since they have low quality ones too. You can save if you shop there for your everyday wear. Also you can buy good materials from wholesale stores and get those stitched with the new style. Have matching patialas and duppattas and mix & match with any salwar tops will make your outfits look trendy ;-) Happy shopping.......

    Thanks for the information posted here. Very helpful.
    I was wondering if you know if these shops you mention have a wide variety of sizes in the readymade collections.
    Also, if you buy materials from them and request for stitching what is the turn around time?
    Do women in their 20s and 30s wear salwars to weddings or sarees only?

    do u mean to say nisha tailors stitch good...they sucks.... i dont particularly remember some venkatesh i guess, that damn tailor spoiled all my salwar material n i cudnt wear even one, that too i gve for alterations for 5 to 6 times n waited for 2 months only my time n auto fare go waste.

    My sister who is also XL size found some lovely clothes at Ananya boutique in Gopalapuram. The designs are very unusual and she has both simple as well as more dressy stuff. They will also do tiny alterations needed to make their readymade fit perfectly such as shoulder measurements and length, etc. You should definitely check this place out whatever your size!
