Good is there because there is Evil.

THE CYCLE OF BIRTH AND REBIRTH

    (Gita Chapter 4.5 )

    Sri Bhagavaan Uvaacha:

    Bahooni me vyateetaani janmaani tava chaarjuna;

Taanyaham veda sarvaani na twam vettha parantapa.

    (The Blessed Lord said:

Many births of Mine have passed, as well as of thine, O Arjuna! I know them all but thou knowest not, O Parantapa!)
In another chapter, it is said that Karma decides where and in which form the rebirth will take place. Good Karma in a good family, bad Karma in a bad family till one achieves perfection and merges with the supreme and freed from the cycle of birth and rebirth.
No one remembers anything of his or her past birth. Someone would argue if a person is not aware of his past bad deeds, how can he make amends in the present life? Looks, like it is a valid question. The accused has a right to know what his faults were.
    Why he has been punished?
Evil is the corruption of good. That means evil exists only because it is good. Then, what is good? Gita says acting as per Dharma is good and acting against Dharma is bad.
The Biblical view is that there is only one birth and then Judgement. No religion seems to be promoting evil. Every religion promotes good.
Looks like that's the answer. But hold on. Even after millions of rebirths, evil exists. There are all sorts of evil people around us. There is starvation, suffering, and whatnot. The question, therefore arises, what is good? How come despite volumes and volumes of scriptures, teachers, followers, readers, speakers, and listeners evil has survived?

The point here is that good exists because of evil. Demons aka auras existed when devas were there. In a joint effort they churned the milk ocean with snake chord as churned. This anecdote shows that they coexist.
It also demonstrates evils I mean devils too needed to take out the ambrosia the divine juice for everlasting life.
So it follows we need to keep both good and bad.
Then what was good yesterday is no good or bad today. Shorthand was good and my class mates envied me taking down lectures being made in class room. Today it all can be recorded or videographer. There is nothing permanent absolute good or bad. A good or bad is determined with a set of data. If data is bad or good again is determined by the team of collectors. If they are biased or prejudiced.....

At any point of time karma = zero then it must be time for absolute liberation and the corresponding ding soul merges with The Lord. Ok. But the very first born creature or man how he possessed +- karma? He got to be neither good nor bad.

God wanted to experience showering love to someone and be loved by someone. Hence He created other living beings that would love one another and love Him and He can shower His love to all of them. Rev Berg in his book, "Nano Technology of Mind over Matter", When God created another Vessel to separate from Himself, it won't separate as it had the same quality of God and immediately merged with God. Therefore, he created another Vessel that would receive His grace, but this vessel repeated what God does by passing on the grace received to other beings. Finally, God created a Vessel that had three qualities, one that has God's quality, one that receives grace and retain it, and lastly the one that receives the grace and share it with others. All lives reflect all these three qualities in the form of Satvic, Rajasic and Tamosic qualities. The one who removes Rajasic and Tamosic qualities only reflect God's qualities and eventually become God.

Just like the Creator is the only one who can destroy the creation, it is the creation who did some actions should face consequences to destroy the effects of those actions and become free from Karma.

Awesome write up Hari ji! now..
"No one remembers anything of his or her past birth. Someone would argue if a person is not aware of his past bad deeds, how can he make amends in the present life? Looks, like it is a valid question. The accused has a right to know what his faults were. Why he has been punished?"
The very fact that we suffer is only becoz we deserve that, it is logic...no need to know what we did in prev birth...but suppose we go to a yogi or astrologer, he might say that such a such thing happened in your previous life and so this is happening...( it doesnt matter whether we believe it or not) and the person doesn't stop there. He/she suggests remedial measures concurrent to the offence done. (me saying these in a lighter vein, remember sir :grinning::grinning:).

Good is there just to show what the opposite of evil is....In tamil we have a proverb..." we can realise the value of a shaded place only if we are in the very hot sunny place". And what is dharma? According to scriptures, Dharma is treating others as we would expect them to treat us.
For the last question....we Indian love hero worship....so only if evil doers abound there can appear a hero to set things right, or who will recognise the good person?:tearsofjoy::tearsofjoy::tearsofjoy::tearsofjoy:

    Dear Shri Thyagarajan,
I think 'what is good' is the most discussed subject in the world. One way of saying it is that each one of us has a definition of our own. Gita says following life as mentioned in Dharma is good. It also says that no one, including the Devas, is full of all Gunas-Satvic, Rajasic and Tamasic.
If all this is there, who finally decides what is a good and bad afterlife in the court of Chitrgupta?
Very often, I swing in between.

    Dear Shri Viswa,
I am currently reading 'Come Back' (reincarnation) based on the teaching of Swami Prabhupada, founder of ISCON. It deals with birth and rebirth which depends upon our karmas.
As for destroying creation, modern-day scientists may say, who knows one day humans may be travelling from planet to planet in spaceships.

(HERO WORSHIP IS IN OUR DNA. IN TRETA YOGA ALL WERE SATVIC SO NO HERO WAS NEEDED. THEN CAME TRETA AND DWAPAR MAKING ROOM FOR HERO. SINCE THEN, WE HAVE HERO AND HERO WORSHIPPERS. AS IN TRETA AND DWAPAR THERE IS SPACE FOR ONLY ONE HERO, SO IN KALI THERE CAN BE NOT MORE THAN ONE HERO.) HAHAHAHAA
