Thanks for the Info Revathy... I heard abt this temple thru' my relatives and planning to go to this temple next month.. Sasirekha
Wow, didn`t even know that such a temple existed in our very own Tamilnadu. Thank you Revathyma`m for such an informative post.
Just today I got another forward about this temple, thought may be of interest. And we say India is poor! A z A Mahalakshmi temple called 'Sripuram' and made of more than a tonne of pure gold will glitter and gleam under the sun on August 24 when it is unveiled for consecration by the Sri Narayani Peetam headed by a 31-year-old godman who calls himself Narayani Amma. Devotees hail the temple as 'one of the wonders of the world' and say that it is the only temple covered fully with gold. More than 400 gold and coppersmiths from the Thirupath Thirumala Devasthanam are said to have worked for six years to craft the Rs 600-crore gold temple located on 55,000 sq ft of land on a 100-acre salubrious stretch in Malaikodi, about 6 km from Vellore in north Tamil Nadu. According to official sources, the gold bars were purchased through RBI in 'a transparent manner.' Look at the picture for Sripuram Golden Temple situated in Vellore................(Picture Automatically Changes) Revathy.

Have a couple of queries-is that possible to visit the temple and return on the same day to chennai, without staying in vellore? Are they open in weekdays throughout the day becoz, if we travel from chennai, it will take noon to reach vellore, hence this query.. One important question, how about rest room facility inside the temple & on the way from chennai to vellore, sorry if it is silly... Thanks for sharing.
Ami, You can go there and return the same day. Try to reach the place by 3-4 in the evening . There is a wonderful Hotel with classy restrooms adj. to the temple(dont know abt restrooms inside the complex)
