    i have used that for a long time.. the members mark brand. i agree with priya and it is very similar to the one from India.. i also have tried from whole foods and giant, their brands, they are good too..

    yeah seems like many use the sams club one.. the price is also good.. u get 4 packs.. now am tempted to try Trader Joe's

    I use Land-O-Lakes unsalted butter..
    While making ghee, make sure you dont over cook it and then finally you need to filter out the white particles. This will give you yellwish perfect ghee.

    I have used Costco Brand unsalted butter and Land of Lakes to make ghee, they both came out good.

    I make ghee from samsclub's unsalted butter and it comes out perfect.you get 4 packs for 8$.

    Hi Ladies,

    I'm just curious to know why you guys make ghee at home rather than just buy the ghee from indian store..

    1) Is it because the homemade ghee tastes better than the lakshmi/deep brand ghee in US?
    2) Is it cheaper to buy butter and make it into ghee rather than buying ghee itself?

    I'm new to US cooking and was wondering...

    Also do you guys try making ghee from malai?

    What butter you use for making ghee at home.... Once i used lurpak and lots of black residue came at the bottom of the vessel.
    Any experience ladies

    I use lurpak as well and sieve out the dirt
