    Chocolate Syrup & Chocolate Milkshake

It is very easy to prepare chocolate syrup/sauce at home & preserve for a few weeks.

    Cocoa powder - 1/2 cup

    Sugar - 1 cup

    Water - 1/2 cup

Mix cocoa & sugar together dry & keep.

Put water in a saucepan & heat. Add this mixture, stirring on a low fire till it starts thickening. Remove when syrup/sauce consistency is reached as per your requirement. Strain, cool and refrigerate.
The sauce can be poured on ice creams, used for hot chocolate etc.

    Chocolate-Banana Milkshake:

According to my "chocolacious" GD, this is sheer Heaven on Earth!

Freeze both milk & sliced banana. This is a must to get thick milkshake. Blend in a liquidiser
    frozen milk+frozen banana+chocolate syrup.
If preferred mint essence can be added.

Lychee Milkshake - when the fruit is abundant!

For milkshakes, frozen milk & sliced & frozen bananas form a thick luscious base. I stock both & change only the main ingredients.

Fresh Lime - incomparable "zing" !

I first tried this when I bought my Kenwood Liquidiser way back in early 60's. The recipe came in the booklet. I can only say, it is a "super leemony drink".
Select a fresh small or medium size lime. You can use
white sugar or brown sugar or honey
with a pinch of salt, crushed ice & chilled water.
This must be consumed fresh. Otherwise bitterness creeps in. I used magic bullet. One can use a powerful blender or liquidiser. An Indian mixi does not work.
First blend chilled water, salt & sugar till well blended.
Now drop the whole lime (do not cut) with crushed ice & liquidise for 2-3 spells of 10 secs. The lime gets smashed.

    Strain & drink immediately.

Orange Milkshake - nothing better to beat the heat!

I used MinuteMaid orange pulp. You can use fresh orange juice or a juice carton. If the juice is thin, add a scoop of ice tream to get a thick milkshake - but, banana does the trick "subtly" !

Pineapple Milkshake - a mini dessert!

For this, use ice cream & not bananas to give a creamy taste. Liquidise all ingredients, first pieapple with milk & then ice cream & sugar.

Salad Juice - Does the name amuse you?

This morning, as I started slicing cucumber & tomato for salad, I just thought - why not liquidise & "drink" rather than "eat"! Believe me, it tasted very good. No salt, sugar or chat masala. Add crushed ice & blend.

    Avocado Smoothy

Avocado is now available in Chennai. My niece who has come from Iowa for thanu's wedding taught me how to ripen & use it.
To ripen it, I kept it in a newspaper bag along with a banana. It ripened in 2 days. I made diametrically opposite cuts along the length & on twisting the two halves came out clean. I scooped the flesh with a spoon.
She advised me to use Condensed milk & crushed ice.
