My native karaikudi (around karaikudi),Tamilnadu. Famous for huge houses. Known for chettinad cuisine. These people had the habit of raising their houses from 5 or even 10 foot height and still they have 20 or 30 steps at the entrance...They were so prepared for floods (now its drought and only drought).Its a very hot land. These houses will also be huge and lengthy that the entrance will be on one street and the backdoor will open on the next street.The doors will be so huge that the keyhole will be the length of our palm.(around 15 cms)..Imagine the size of the key . The chettinad cuisine is also famous. They will have a Burma touch in it bcos the men travelled to Burma often for earning. --karthika.

I lived in Balasore(orissa) during my schooldays. Its the place where Chandipur -at-sea is located, from where ISRO does many of its rocket launching. The beach in chandipur is one of the rare ones. As sun rises the water moves in, towards the sea, for about 2-3 miles. we can actually walk in till a fence is put up,beyond which it is considered dangerous.As sun sets in the evening water flows towards the beach .it is a beautiful sight. we can see the water gradually coming. wonder why not much is written about it. it could be a good tourist destination. the district hasn't developed much . it is almost the same after nearly 15 years.
Hi Saraswati, we used to visit chandipur when we were staying at kolkata.really nice place. Even we used to visit panchalingeswar...we really like to go there again...
I stayed in a hotel just in front of the beach in Pondicherry now called Puducherry.....the view was great.....
we stayed in taj samudra at colombo. our room balcony was facing sea side and the view was superb!!!!!!!
