    Nation remembers Bapu

The birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, the 'Father of the Nation', is celebrated as Gandhi Jayanti across the country with reverence. It is also marked as the International Day of Non-Violence around the world.

Do you think garlanding his statue on his birth and death anniverasary and singing his favourite bajans in his Samadhi is the best tributes paid to this great man?

He sacrificed his life fighting for Hindu Muslim unity. He preached ahimsa with which he liberated the country.

    Gandhiji’s Quotes:

Ahimsa is the highest ideal. It is meant for the brave, never for the cowardly.

True ahimsa should mean a complete freedom from ill-will and anger and hate and an overflowing love for all.

What do we see? Students were killed while walking on a railway track by a speeding train.

It is violation of law and an offense. But who cares? Students become unruly and smash everything at the station. They go to their college and break everything there because the Principal did not support their act.

TV channels are entertaining the viewers with violence strewn movies on Bapu’s birthday.

Court verdict is not acceptable to parties in Ayodhya case. Bot parties would not negotiate with each other for a sellement. Politicians are taking advantage of it and playing games.

Ruling politicians amassing wealth for seven generations of their families. Previously foreigners were looting our country, now our own people are doing this. CG is the latest proof for this.

Hey Ram!!! How long we citizens have to tolerate these anarchies?

    hello pushpa mam,

Our bapu was really a great personality. Even if we can imbibe his few qualities, our nation will be far far better.

Just installing and garlanding his statue wont change anything. The values and his teachings should be introduced in schools and colleges.

    Dear Viji,
Remembering Gandhiji and praying tributes on Oct 2nd and Jan 30th is what our politicians are doing. They are not following his teachings.Kamaraj and Kakkan were the true followers of Gandhiji.
Thanks for joining me to pay your tributes to the father of the nation,
    Love,
    PS

    Dear Sudha and Radha,
Thanks for dropping in and paying tributes to the Ahimsamurthi who freed our country with his nonviolence policy.
I wish that "My experiments with truth" an autobiography written by him should be prescribed in schools as a non-detail book in higher classes.
    Love,

Since yesterday (Gandhi Jayanthi) I wanted to share my disappointment. We subscribed to Sun TV, KTV. So when I saw the list of movies for Gandhi Jayathi celebrations I was so upset.
Here we are celebrating a "Maha Atma" who shunned violence and material wealth; and what movies are on TV? Gilli, Vettaiaadu vilayaadu, Mr. Kandaswamy, Makenna's Gold (tamil) all full of violence!
Couldn't they screen movies without violence at least for one day?

You said it right Pushpavalli ma'am.
Just remembering and garlanding and singing bhajans..it is just a show.

The incidents you had narrated here shows it all.

I was echoing the same wordings of Kkrish to my family yesterday..such violent movies on Gandhi Jayanthi Day.

    Dear Sriniketan,
It is just become a ritual to celebrate Gandhi Jayanthi to politicians by Garlanding and showering flowers upon his samadhi and statue in front of camera and burying all the good values under his samadhi every year.

Gandhiji visualised a Rama rajya like scene where a woman adorned with jewels should walk on a road in midnight without an escort and this was the true sign of an independent India. Not only woman, even old men also do not have the safety, even inside the four walls of their house.

In Raj TV they telecasted titled 'Thedi vanda Gandhi' on Gandhi Jayanthi day in which a man looking ditto like Gandhi interviewing politicians and common people and asking them about the condition prevailing in the country after 62 years of freedom, It was quite interesting.

Thanks for dropping in and posting your comments,

    Dear krish,
I too had the same feeling. Gandhi Jayanthi holiday for the people has become an entertainment day, that too with these kind of movies. I stopped watching movies of these kind. If not movies the all other shows are based on half clad cine artists.

One Mahathma Gandhi was born after watching Harischandra and hundreds of thugs and cheats are created after watching these kind of movies.

There is a saying 'arasan evvazi manuyir avvazi' meaning like raja praja. In the same way like their political leader the followers are treading on the same path.

Thanks for peeping in and joining me here to express your feelings,
    Love,
