FOOD OF THE WEEK – CAYENNE PEPPER

Spicy food lover?! YES or NO?! (Answer in a GIF!)

Cayenne peppers are surprisingly good for you. Their “power” ingredient is capsaicin, which gives them both their nutritional benefits and their spicy-hot taste!

Capsaicin is used in a lot of over-the-counter remedies, from pain-relieving creams to supplements.

That’s because on top of easing soreness, it can slightly boost your metabolism and reduce feelings of hunger. Plus, it’s good for your digestive system, helps with lower blood pressure, and has anti-cancer qualities.

Note: More spice/cayenne isn’t always better – if you already eat spicy foods, adding even more of it to your diet probably won’t give you additional benefits.

‍ Add cayenne to scrambled eggs, sauces, stir-fries, casseroles, and chili!
