Hi to all, Almost all the engineering colleges publicize their college by pointing to their Campus Recruitment records. The last two semesters of college life are mostly dedicated for recruitment process. Apart from this, due to the up-coming Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) and IT, the life style is changing. Gone are those days, when you would call your superior person as "BOSS". So many changes in the working style, in the past few years. Being a house-wife, I personally don't have any exposure to the 'Corporate World'. My son would be shortly joining a MNC and would like to know from you about First Day of Your Career. Through this thread you can share your thrill/comic/exciting experience with IL. All the best.
Hi Krishnnamma, Fisrt of all congtrats to your son for getting selected for a job. First day was really cool. The manager of the group indroduced me to the rest of the folks. and he showed the cubicle where i sit. Then got set up the email and telephone number then I was browsing through some books. they didn't assign any work in the first day( this is my experience in USA I guess same in India also) It will be really cool don’t worry about your son’s first day. Best wishes for your son
Hi Tulasi, Thank you ya, I was bit worried. After seeing your reply I am some what happy. Thank you once again for wishing my son.
Hi, First day of work in INDIA in any MNC/IT FIRM would be called an Induction programme. All the top heads,HR heads would be present to address the gathering of new joinees. The various departments, the funtioning process of the company, the acheivements, the Mission/Vision (in the form of ppt) of the company would be discussed followed by a Q&A session. Then we have to formally join the company by signing a Joining report from(in some companies). Then in a weeks time you would be allocated to a Project and then on the manager & fellow team mates will impart knowledge about the job. This is called as KT(Knowledge Transition). You would be in trainign phase for first 2 weeks in the Project. This is the process that i went thro.(BTW, i work in an IT Firm in chennai).
Hi Tulasi, How are you? My son joined in Wipro on June 22nd and as Aishu said, they took one full day as Induction programme, and for him they are giving training now. And he is attending his training in a college. He is very happy and comfortable with his training. He is feeling it is very easy and they are covering all the four years BE course, it seems. The training period is 3 months. Thank you Tulasi for remembering me and asking about my son.:-D
