Left, left, left-right-left. Stand at ease. Attention. Eyes right. August is still synonymous with Independence Day and "march-past" for me, regardless of where I live. We had a march-past at school and then at the parade grounds. As we marched in rows of three students, maintaining pace with each other even with our eyes facing right, there was an indescribable sense of accomplishment and joy. Our P.T. teachers' nods of approval were an added reward. Then, of course, we grow up and move on from childhood. Adulthood comes with its own set of responsibilities and obligations. Even more so for women who have young children and a household to run. Many women fall into the trap of measuring their happiness based on the happiness of their loved ones. Life becomes a long march-past with hardly any stand-at-ease. : ) Women must constantly remind themselves that they need to look after themselves too. No one else is going to do it. I had intended to start this thread much earlier today. But every time I read the winning post, I slowed down to reflect on some parts again. This is the driving-force for happiness in life. We construct the life step to step by our own feelings about ourselves and how capable we are.
