    Hi all,

Got a small packet of flaxseed powder from "Nuts-N-Spices" nearly 6 months back..and i totally forgot about it..:bonk:bonk:bonk

realized and found it today..but there are no instructions regarding the batch or expiry date..is it safe to use it??

it had remained in my shelves(air-tight cupboard) unopened..can it be like that or should i have refrigerated it???

    Hi Cinduja,
Flaxseed powder has a very short shelf life( only upto a week), because the oils become rancid very fast. In India, the heat accelerates this process.
Next time you can store it in the refrigerator, or rather get whole flax seeds and make the powder yourself.

@Custard- Flaxseeds are a very good source of Omega 3 fatty acids, for people who do not eat fish. They are very good for heart health, people with PCOS, etc. I add about 1tsp of the powder to 1 cup flour for making chapathis. It tastes great too.....

    Hi Cinduja,
The Flax seed don't need refrigeration. The powder definitely has to be kept in the fridge, to store for more than a week.
Yep, you can use the normal spice grinding attachment for making a fine powder.

    Regards,
    Roopa
