Pavithra and Vaidehi went to the textile shop , bought a sari each and Pavithra paid RS.500/- in total ( that is for both the saris.)
However , on reaching home , Pavithra felt Vaidehi's sari better , and Vaidehi felt Pavithra's sari more beautiful. So they agreed to exchange their saris .
Vaidehi offered Rs. 60/- to Pavithra , being the difference in the price of the saris.
But Pavithra refused to take it and told Vaidehi that they would equally share the total price of the saris . So Vaidehi paid the amount of her equal share to Pavithra.
-------------------------------------------------How much did Vaidehi pay to Pavithra ?
What is the price of the saris ? and
How much did Pavithra bear for her friend , Vaidehi ?

    Pavithra Saree Rs 280
    Vaidehi Saree Rs 220

Since they shared equally & exchanged, the share is Rs 250 each. Hence Vaidehi paid Rs 250 to Pavithra.

Pavithra beared Rs 30 towards sharing equally and another 30 towards the cost of increase in price, totally Rs 60. In other words they just exchanged.

I think they were shared equal amount ...that means Rs 250 each.
Then Pavithra bearing Rs.60 for Vaideki...
The actual price of the saris were Rs. 190 & Rs. 310....is it right????

No. 2 saris together is 500. Difference in their prices is 60.
    Solve the equations
    X+y= 500
    X-y= 60
    X= 560/2= 280. So y= 220.
Since they decided to share equally, she gave her 250. So she incurred an extra 30 for the friend's saree.

The saris cost 280 and 220, they both paid 250 each and since the Pavithra paid an extra 30.
