    Dear Asma,
I havent faced any such problems. But I checked out in many sites and they say that it is not at all harmful to get it operated.
    All About Adenoids

You can also search for more information on the websites.
I am sure other ILs will give you more detailed and useful info.
My best wishes are with you.

    hello

see if your kids are constipated
    if yes try an enema
    if this is not possible
    give them fruits
    especially citrus variety
    juice or fresh
do not mix fruits with meals
cut down one meal and give fruits
    avoid non veg
    add greens in their diet
    no cereals or refined food
    no sugar ...
    see that their bowel movements
    are regular
    musambi and orange best
    amla too
    smear castor oil
    on the swollen part

    Hi asma

Dont me in a hurry and dont panic. enlarged adenoids-indication frequent colds, coughs and little bit of wheeze type of sound and fever. The first thing that agravates the problem is our ac.(that is u are in saudi, so avoiding it is not a possibility). but u can regulate it (by not switching on the ac immediately after the children coming from outside and also by not giving them cold things immediately. and if u are using a carpet, u have to keep it clean.

Take another opnion. My son had tonsils and adenoids. . the adenoids infection was making his hearing bad.they inserted tubes into his ears. as ent is all interconnected. he was operated when he was 5 in bahrain american hospital. but my padeatrician in india said it was not necessary. it would have corrected it self. but i was scared when i was told that he may lose his hearing by the ent specialist. now he is 9. and removing his adenoids/tonsils has not harmed him.

but i would tell u sincerely dont panic, take another opinion and if it really necessary then the operation is a simple one. so we will hope it is not necessary.

All the best. hope it helps.

    hi asma

my 5 year old son also faced the same problem. we had seen so many specialists in india and saudi for the last one year. every month he will be affeccted by running nose and severe dry cough with wheezing at night. we used to give antibiotic and anti-allergy medicines. 3 months back, we bought a nebulizer for him and whenever doctor says we are keeping that for him twice a day. almost got fed up with this problem.

when we checked with an ent surgeon, he infmd tht eventhough if u do a surgery to him, that won't help much. some children get affected by the atmospheric pollution, esp. here in industrial area. if u move from jubail, he may be ok. but we are not ready for that. hence, when we went for vacation, we took a serious decision to go for operation. we did it last month, the dr. who operated also removed tonsils, which was infected very much and having puss, he showed to us. we were not willing to remove tonsils, after surgery, what can we do? he was much better after operation and his health also improved.

unfortunately, after coming back here, he has the same repeated problems, and he finished one course of antibiotic. now we hv left it like that. let him grow old enough to take care of himself.

i think u can decide on seeing the side-effects the adenoids creates on your sons. if they are hale & healthy otherwise, u can leave that to cure on its own.

    uma.

My daughter has adenoids. The doctor in Mumbai, has put her on a longterm medication program which does not include antibiotics.
She catches colds faster than normal but otherwise is fine,
Her doctor is against the idea of operating with an absolute necessity.
Get another opinion from a doctor in your hometown
Also take care that your ac filters are cleaned regularly, vacuum often, if you can get rid of carpets, that helps, do not give anything with artificial colors (M &Ms) have colors, juices, check that they do not contain artificial colors, basically I try as far as possible to give her milk and honey.
Let me know if you would like to talk more on this

    HI everyone,
    I also agree with Sathya:-D
I will give my own personal experience..my SIL son age ...8 yrs was advised to remove tonsils by a dr. who hardly believes in antibiotics!!!..there was no choice becoz he wud be frequently sick with very high fever...
I took him to naturopath/magneto-therapist who made a magnet belt for throat with blue magnets touching tonsils & 1 red pole touching centre..the blue poles were special ENT curved shaped..the cost 90 INR..fees 50INR
the patient wore it when studying etc for 1 hr. twice daily for 15 days..then alternate days..now once in a month..& he is perfectly fine..SINCE last 4yrs..& no operation:bangcomp:
Besides honey with turmeric is must for such patients..

    Hello,
do not worry, my son's tonsils and adenoids were removed last year (he was 15 year old then) the same time, during his quarterly vacations. He is just fine now, no problem so far. I guess it is okay. You can take a second opinion from another dr. if you are doubtful.
