Re: Anchor Book of free Style embroidery

Thank you very much indeed , karthi - this is so informative. I tried out the Antwerp edging in your first set of scanned pages . It has been done on the neck of a cotton top with pearl cotton no. 20 . I feel it is a very simple and easy edging and very useful for quickly beautifying a top, towel, hanky or tablecloth.

Re: Anchor Book of free Style embroidery

Again, your scanned pages are proving to be a delightful resource for learning new stitches ...
Here is my experiment with double knot stitch or palestrina stitch, shown in post 5 of your thread. I have used it on the front of a kurta ( white outline and green french knots - the french knots are better seen if you double click on the picture) and also in a small square motif on the sleeves and back ( green outline only - the rest is stem st , herringbone and mirrorwork ).

    Re: Embroidery : Useful Books

By the way I got the design for the square motif (on my yellow kurta, shown above ) from an old Anchor leaflet for sari embroidery - just attaching the picture and instructions - no, i did NOT embroider this sari , ILites , it's only a photo in a book , so don't compliment me !Big Laugh
