Tracing the Design-Tips

Dear all

I came across an article of how to trace design today. Thought of sharing with u people..

1. Attach the paper with the design to butter paper.
2. Prick holes at regular intervals along the design.
3. Place the paper over the dress material and make sure it does not move.
4. Take a small piece of cotton and dip in little kerosene
5. Dip cotton with kerosene in Printing powder and rub over the design where holes are made.
6. Your trace is ready.
7. You can repeatedly use the same paper to multiple designs.



Hope this wii be of help for people who find it difficult to trace including me.

(I really dont know what is printing powder . I have to enquire . If anyone knows please share it)

How to take carbon copy without carbon paper ?

Hi all

Is there any way to copy an embroidary design in a cloth, without using carbon paper ? We are unable to get a carbon paper here in our place......

Hey Subha,
You can use Hot iron transfer pencils. You first copy the design (using basic lead pencil) onto a regular tracing paper or u can buy Hot iron transfer paper. Then turn this paper over and go over the design using the Hot iron transfer pencil. Now position the paper over the cloth making sure he transfer pencil side of design is in contact with the cloth. Iron over the paper to transfer the design onto the cloth, making sure u don't burn the paper. It will take a few tries to figure out the reqd heat of iron and how long u need to hold it over the paper. Voila !! the design will be on the cloth.
I got the pencil and transfer paper referred to above at Joanns. I'm sure u can find it at Michael and maybe even Walmart.

excellent .Thanks will try and post my work back . Have a question can we use this hot tranfer paper again or it is one time use and throw?
