    hi prabha

I used to follow the same instructions for tracing down the design... We use chalk powder..... But my question is we use show polish instead of chalk powder for light color dress materials.... I want to know whether there is any alternative for shoe polish.... Any dark color powder available in the market????

thanks in advance... bye take care

ya it is called the chapa method
prick holes with a very thin needle
mix chalk power with kerosene and dad on the design sheets with a cotton
after some time it dries and gives a very clear design
if u want to do on light colour fabrics u add blue colour (which we use for while clothes washing) not liquid but powder little to the chalk powder and try

How to mark points for embroidery tracing on sarees or kurtas

    Hi All,

I would like to know how to mark the specific points on the sarees or kurta materials for embroidering/ painting? This is not for running design but say if you want to place motifs here and there. Is there any measurement that needs to be followed?

I am sure for sarees there must be some measurements.

Any one who has the idea please share it here. It will be useful to me and many others like me.

    Thanks,
    Sunitha

    Hi Friends,

I know there are a lot of ILites here who have been doing embroidery and showcasing them in this forum. I was expecting some points from them.

Re: How to mark points for embroidery tracing on sarees or kurtas

    hi friends...
    i'm not sure abt measurements..
but have seen making pattu sarees, block prints...whn asked for specific pattern say chicken wrks... etc
thy jus tie a parallel thread depending upon space... say inch, 2 inch 3 inch, etc....tis happens while weaving...
u can do mothi wrk, dots, prints,
for us manually we need to mark using scale
u can use straight even marking from top to bottom
    ......
    ......
    ......
    ......

    or
    . . . . . . . .
    . . . . . . .
    . . . . . . . .
to get some cross effect ... u can jus try random marking also... tht will be very pretty...
hope tis will gve the basic idea... n now hope many 'll share their ideas...
    keep goin...
if any help.. sure will help u as much as i can..
    cheers...!!:)
