    Re: query on aari embroidery!!!

    Hi Kavi,

Sure u can learn arri if u put ur efforts.
With ordinery round frame its difficult to do , as u need support for doing arri .
Some are doing it using magam frame but i am using a rectangular frame.
Normal machine embroidery threads (ie) silk threads can be using for it.
While learning use this thread and later u can try with zari threads.
U will get all threads, arri needle and other chamki, bead , etc material from raja thread house in
T Nagar and also in mint street.
U can also refer the blog of vishnupritham of ILTs.
She has done a beautiful work abt how to learn arri in step by step.
rainy days of ilampirai: step by step aari embroidery

Hope this would be useful for you.

    Regards,
    Sandhiya.

    Re: query on aari embroidery!!!

    Hello Kavi

1.can aari emb be done using a normal wooden frame we use for other hand embroideries????

ofcourse YES !! Iam using my round wodden frame to do just this. I have just tilted my table, placed the frame on that and have got the same setup as any large bed type set up might provide.

2.what type of thread has to be used????

Thread.. honestly any type of thread will do.. it depends on the thickness and on the type of embrd. u want. am using zari threads, twisted threads.. zardosi.. anything almost

3.can i learn it myself by putting little effort???

I have learnt it by myself .. effort.. yes.. you need the dedication.. all the best

4.if yes where can i get the needle and other stuff???

    any handicraft shop !!

5.if no where can i learn good lessons in chennai???

am not sure about chennai coz I reside in hyderabad.

    Hope this post helps...
    Thanks
    Nagrale
