Dosa or dose is a staple breakfast and dinner item in most of the south indian houses.... This humble dosa has many variations and every household has its own recipe for a soft dosa.... We love our dosas, soft and here is the recipe 3 cups of rice( any variety) 1 cup of urad dhal 1/2 cup powdered oats 1 tsp methi seeds Salt to taste Method Wash and soak the rice, and urad dhal separately with methi seeds overnight... Next day grind the rice, urad dhal and methi seeds to fine batter, adding water as and when required. Add powdered oats, salt mix well and keep in a warm place to ferment, Atleast for 6-7 hours.... If you are staying in a cold place, just add a tsp of curd, to the batter, an hour before you prepare your dosas... Prepare your dosas as usual.
Nandu, A small tip: add 2-3 tsp sugar to the batter. This helps to ferment better and also its caramelization gives lovely golden colour to dosas.
Nandu, Looks very yummy love the oat addition! The peanut chutney too.. what is that whitish powder with oil, is that podi?
Pyaari, thanks dearie.... I love adding oats in dosa, idli and Chapathi Haan pyaari its a podi made of roasted chana, garlic and dry chilly... Blend together the above items with salt to fine powder and store in airtight container
