Hi Meena,

Yeah, hear my friends saw the movie and were not very impressed.....yeah what uhave said is true..it seems they have made the Bond hero more realistic. I actually saw the sun tv , tamil version for 30 mts, in which they showed all the important scenes for 30 mts. I was not very impressed with the hero and the actions. So may not watch it !

But i heard Dhoom 2 is very much an equivalent to this with fantastic star cast and stunts by Hrithik and Aish!
Anyone has seen it?

yes, the Malayalam version got good review. I have not seen it. I told you, there are no good rentals here in Ambattur. And the police is always charging the libraries here for renting pirated cds. It is difficult to get Hindi or English also, only copied cds which are not good.
And the Bond movie, myself and my son saw it last week in the theatre just 4 blocks from our house. I too felt that the movie did not have the usual Bond magic. It was more slow in the middle. Only the initial chase scenes were very exciting. Usually, Bond will have so many gadgets to help him. That was missing tis ime. And also he was shown as failing so many times, he nearly misses the money in this.
But Daniel Craig is good. He seems more aggressive and tough.
Dhoom is about to be shown in TV on Dec. 3rd in Zee's channel. I shall post the exact channel and timing as soon as I see the ad again. Oh, I can't wait to see it.

Varloo Ma'am,

I was talking of the new release DHOOM 2 , which has raving revews, not the other Dhoom which will be on Zee...not that i have Zee connection....i just have Sun tv thats all. But heard a lot about this new Hrithik, Aish ; abhishek starrer....is supposedly better than Bond, that is why i mentioned it. The pirated dvds are out and some have seen it also.

Here the germans are also fans of Hrithik and Aish, so we feel good when Bollywood is rising to the Hollywood levels.

Anyway these are all time pass , not like DOR ....so...not to worry!

Will definitely watch DOR.

About Bond, i think since Casino Royal was the first bond book that Ian Flemming wrote, the producers wanted to stick as close to the original as possible. So the movie is a let down to some. And yes, i cannot see Daniel Craig in the Bond role.

Dear Vandhana,

Yes, why not have a poll on the best James Bond?! ...I agree, my vote is for Sean Connery too..first is the best. He has both the dashing and a certain mean look to be the Bond.
I think Roger Moore and Pierce Brosnan are both equally very good looking, both acted as the 'Saint'...a TV serial, first Moore and then Brosnan and funny, they also did that with the Bond role!
The other actor who you missed out was George Lazenby. He was the worst looking Bond in my opinion!
So, there it is......Sean Connery!

Hi Vandhana,
No doubt SC is the best. George Robert Lazenby acted briefly. His film was'On her majesty's secret service'. He quit and SC took over with 'Diamonds are forever" Pierce Brosnan is next for me. Have not seen the new one yet.

Sean connery comes first by me too...then i used to like Pierce Brosnan also.....so i enjoyed his potrayal as Bond!

My Opinion

HI Ladies,

The discussions are quite interesting, the thread started with DOR and slowly moved onto Casino Royale.

I watched this CR movie with my hubby over the weekend at the local theatre !

My first feeling after coming out was of watching a hi-tech hindi movie in english (ofcourse devoid of songs sequences). Somehow the CR wasn't upto the mark ! It had that tooooo much of "Indian" look.

Some of earlier bond movies were damn good and had a interesting story.

Except few gripping chase scenes (the first chasing scene deserves a good credit, mind-blowing it was !!) there was nothing fascinating, this bond seemed to be more subtle and not so action-oriented. not so impressive.

I didn't like Craig at all........
