I dont know whether BM exist or not. But what i know for sure is some people practice BM and some people pay for it to ruin their enemies.
My PILs did pay a lot of money to a magician to perform BM against us for a long time. To makesure their magic works, they did follow certain rituals & forced us to follow the same.
These rituals were too suspicious; hence we started to be vigilant.

Having said that, we had priests & pandits come over & remove BM at our home upon my H's request ad he believes in them. In fact, he still believes it was BM that ruined his career & life to some extend.

I too had issues, severe setbacks, health problems etc... And i too got carried away with BM removal etc..etc...until I found out myself the fact that it is a business here.

Yes, BM could be there... The evil intention of my PILs were true.
But those who come to perform prayers & poojas to remove BM is a business. Do not get into this kind of mind games when you are already suffering.

What helped me to come out of my dark times is prayer. I did pray alone. I did not need a broker to connect with God to tell my problems.
Prayers gave me the calmness to think & act when everything was going down.

I worked hard, smart & found a job to settle in life when nothing came on my favour.
This helped me to move out of the country & stay in sanity.
Life did improve after moving out of the dark zone.

    Dear OP,
Dont judge a book by its cover. Never judge a person by their action.

I have completely cut my ties with in laws in 2018, and gave my H an ultimatum to choose either us or them. This made him to cut ties with his parents at first. Then i discussed with H (in your words poisoned him) about everything against PILs and the reason why i want him to stay away from them despite of their old age.
He listened to me & wholeheartedly decided to move away from them now.

If it was the only measurement for karma, we must have been perished by now.
But strangely, we are doing well both personally & professionally.

Just recently moved to abroad, got a professional position & salary hike... Had a few interesting vacations & luckily survived from a health complication with no harm.
There are so much of blessings which i do not want to list out in public.

People like you may wonder whether karma is outdated or not.

But, think beyond what you could see....

Yes, we cut ties from in laws to safeguard ourselves after several near death experiences. We had no choice other than to stay away from them to live the reminder of our lives with sanity.
It was our broadmindedness that we had left them in peace without taking legal actions or revenging for what we have lost.
And Karma does exist; hence we are progressing while they are regressing.

As i said before, not the actions, but the intention behind each action should be considered.

Not all the DILs who chose to stay away from PILs are home breakers. So, dont judge!

Quite indeed. Appearances re always (!) Deceptive.

You said it in a riveting manner. I like and contemplate on it.

There is a to,erance limit beyond which tool is destructive and one has to discord it lest the sculpture in making will get cracked at its foundation. An edifice possible only if foundation is robust. Rotten roots shake & destroy a tall tree from its foundation.

Very true. Unsolicited help too to be examined with magnifying glass!

Good, bad, right, wrong ..... who is to decide? What is good for one might not be good for another. If I get up one morning and decide to hurt someone for no reason or rhyme, it is certainly not good, but what if I have to hurt someone to defend myself? What if I have to scold the domestic help when she goes off on French leave or does not do her work properly? What if I have to drive away a probably hungry cat because it comes and dirties my balcony everyday or kill ants or mosquitoes which bite me and cause disease? Good and bad are relative.

Do whatever you have to do with the best of intentions and having done whatever you have done, let it go, good or bad. More than that we have no control. In short, just be. We have no complete knowledge of what karma is or how exactly it works. It is far too complex.

Take an example. I can choose to throw a stone at a window. Having thrown it, I cannot wish it to come back or not to break the window. Now if somebody comes in the path of the stone and gets hurt, I did not mean to hurt the person, nor did I have any control on their coming in between. I only have the choice to throw the stone or not to throw it. Once I have done that karma, the result is not in my hand. I broke somebody's window - bad karma. The other person got hurt - bad karma for me or that person paying for some bad karma of his/her own???

All karma is not instant karma. I might smoke for years before getting lung cancer. May not get it immediately after 1 cigarette or even a packet. Some chronic smokers have lived into their 90s. I am not encouraging smoking. Just an example to tell you that karma may not show up immediately. Your ILs being happy despite their actions does not meant that they will not get back their karma sometime - this life, next life, direct, indirect .... who knows. Or maybe we come as dils to these families because of our past karmas???

We can only do whatever needs to be done and what seems right to us in that moment. Once done, forget and move forward.

    Interesting thought provoking response here.
I saw a board other day that previously read different but now stands corrected as YOUR SMOKING INJURIOUS TO OUR HEALTH. Indeed smokers cause lungs of others in the vicinity or bystanders coated with toxins like nicotine tar etc.
In profound analysis it emerges action at one place certainly cause bad or ill affect at some other near or distance place even distance lands. So karma good or bad at one place by one turns vice versa at some other place someone else. That means in yhe scheme of things good karma and bad karma has to coexist.
    Regards.

Maybe we bystanders were reaping the prarabdha karma of a past life being around a smoker. I remember a train journey with my parents, being stuck in a compartment with a smoker and both mom and I had such bad throats by the time we got out!

Thanks that now in Indian railway's during train journey smoking is prohibited .
A smug hero was happily smoking producing a wafting smoke- ring that was moving expanding & getting enlarged around the heroine. The heroine instead of getting delighted said, you paid money to buy cigarettes and so dont waste your smoke; retain it with you.
