I understand insurance policy changes with companies. But if h4 is not
currently pregnant, and later conceives in U.S will MOST OF insurance
companies covers her maternity bills ???

Did any one go through this, how much you had to pay out of pocket???

    Hi Suma,

It is not the matter of H1 or H4. It is health insurance. If your spouse have taken family/dependent insurance, you are fully covered whether you are in H1 or H4 or conceive in USA or India. In my case we both are in H1 and DD in H4, if we have Aetna Family coverage, so we are fully covered .
One more suggestion, choose your insurance with good benefit even if premium is high, specially when you planning for baby.

    Suma,
Your husband should add you to his health insurance plan as a dependent. Then you will be covered for maternity.
As for how much to pay out of pocket, it will depend entirely on your specific plan. If your insurance is through an employer, then that employer would have negotiated a plan with the insurance company. So even if you have the same insurer (Aetna) like Priya for example, your coverage and costs will be different unless you work for the same company.
Review the health insurance plans offered to you carefully and don't pick just the cheapest, but the one with the best coverage for your situation.
