I hand sewn a lace fringe on a maxi skirt.

I’m done with first layer and it took two hours

    now my thumb is sore

woukd I be a weenie if I use a thimble for thumb in future? :p

do you use thimble when hand sewing

do you have recommendations on thimbles, preventing sore thumbs, etc after two straight hours of hand sewing

No I do not use thimble and i do not think most women do unles professionals. ..How do I know... I recently read another post somewhere where women put pic of thimble asking what it is and women reply same.
You can try.. it is cheap anyways. Also, I think many ages ago, I saw some palm/wrist thing like compression thingy for women who knit or have issues.
Soreness is temporary like from phone browsing

    Oh okay

I guess in Olden days women had to sew the entire day, since people made clothes at home. Hence thumble would avoid sorenesses
