It could be called exploitation, but like many posts said, the exploitation is not limited to female actors. And it is not limited to the film industry. Some low paid cruise ship workers, illegal immigrants, and those waiting for a green card are some more examples of exploited workers. Imagine being the only child or son and not able to go to do father's last rites due to immigration issues, not going to comfort mother (widow) in such a time.

Success in any industry is a need.
In today's cut throat world you cannot say people working as accountants do not want success.
And you cannot say people should be careful of what career they choose as long as it is legal.

Instead you should say all careers should be, and must be, made safer for women. Every person. regardless of gender, should be able to pursue what they feel is their calling, without getting exploited.

What you sound like is 'they chose it, so they must suffer it'. Doesn't sound nice.

Do not confuse (extraordinary) success (and fame) with earning a livelihood.

People can choose whatever career they want. Within that career, if they want to achieve the highest glory, then the exploitation and compromises come in.

Earning a livelihood as an actor/actress is quite possible without sacrificing one's dignity. There are enough low-budget movies, tv serials, short films being produced where they can act and earn a living. If one wants to achieve huge fame and tons of money, then, the casting couch and bare the skin type problems come in.

Earning a livelihood as an accountant is quite possible without sacrificing one's peace and sleep. If one wants to be a top notch investment banker, then the associated sacrifices and compromises kick in.

Working a job in public service/govt is quite possible. If one wants to rise (quickly) in the ranks and become a diplomat, then the compromises of one's integrity set in.

If you can quote which sentence in my post sounds like this, that'd help.

No one must suffer. Ideally, no one would ever suffer for any reason. But, the way things are, in any industry, there are some achievements that come with compromises and suffering.

"Earning a livelihood as an actor/actress is quite possible without sacrificing one's dignity. There are enough low-budget movies, tv serials, short films being produced where they can act and earn a living."

You obviously do not know much about this industry.

"Earning a livelihood as an accountant is quite possible without sacrificing one's peace and sleep." You are also obviously not very well conversant with this field.

"But, the way things are, in any industry, there are some achievements that come with compromises and suffering." This shows you normalise exploitation.

I suggest before replying to my post, think hard about what you mean. Speak to a whole lot of people. Wonder if exploitation should be normalised.

The title of this thread is "Do You Think Movie Industry Exploits Women? "
And I think it does. So do many people on this thread.
