DMV Driver's License In Virginia

    Hello IL's,

    I am on H4 visa staying in Fairfax, VA. I want to learn driving. Can anyone please say me what all we require for learning driving. I just have the passport with me. Is that enough ? How should i proceed to learn driving ? I have seen DMV but i didnt get the complete information about this....

    Please guide me.

    Hi Keerthy,
    Since you are on H4, i am not sure about whether the DMV will let you get a license here. One f my friends couldnt apply as she was on H4 -But Do call up DMV and they will let you know. You can also visit this website,Commonwealth of Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles it has all the information about what documents oyu need- ifyou have the required documents, they wil let you get a license, otherwise its a long long wait -Any trip to DMV here takes a min of 1 hr in wait q (Based on personal experience) , so try to clarify everything on phone before you go - i had to go 5-6 times before i could get anything done , its very frustrating.
    Hopefully you will have a better experience than me. Good luck and let meknow if you need any more info.

    Just found your thread ., i am planning to give learners permit test for driving license, even am confused with the documents that we are supposed to produce. can you give me some more information about what documents are required.
