Discolored Hawkins Cooker

    Hi all,
    I have a hawkins mixie, which I bought from an Indian store last month. I put in the dishwasher for washing. When it came out it was all black and discloured.

    I am so sad. I tried so hard to scrub it, but the black color won't go.

    Can anybody please help?:drowning

    Hi Sai,

    It won't go. All aluminium based one mostly discolour when we put in diswasher.

    I saw for the first time in my sister's home. her pressure cooker was discoloured, so i was washing in hand. One lazy day i too did the same, even mine turned blackish.....

    But glass,porcelain and stainless silver are amazing onse, they shine well after dishwash compare to hand wash.

    if its alloy, if u leave it inside the oven while self clean the oven, it ll come out sparkling..

    for discoloration inside the cooker put lemon inside the cooker while cooking and see the result even in the first time.

    Mine was good when I put it in the dishwasher.Now it has turned dark in handwash:hide:.Mine is a small one and I cook rice directly.Hence I cant put lemon/tamarind

    Hi Chotumeetu,
    Discoloring after handwash? OMG..I have seen my mom using the prestige n hawkins for years in India..and with same shine. Why is it that in US they discolor so fast? Is it the water or the chemicals in the washing soap..i just wonder.

    I know.. mine too :(:rant:spin

    2 of my cookers are spoilt . one I had put in dishwasher without knowing .
    other due to daily wear and tear.. Something is wrong in the water or detergent ..
