    When dals are soaked it sprouts,softens,removes anti nutrients and is more digestible in the body.

    Can you add yoga in your routine? Simple surya namaskar, squats, planks, crunches. stretching also make big difference. Don’t check weighing scale instead check your clothes are getting loose or tight. I mean to say tone your body, increase your energy not just weight loss. Replace fried items and one meal with cucumbers, carrots, beets, lettuce. Drink every morning green home made smoothie with green leafy veggies like spinach mixed with any fruit like banana apple etc. slowly reduce fried snacks and increase more salads, more veggies. Diet exercise good sleep less stress is mantra for good lifestyle.

    I read ur post 'the power of Fitness' loved it....plenty of information ...
    Just wanted to know, if is it better to workout after the breakfast or vice versa?

    Hi, Usually best time to workout is in the morning.Sometimes when you workout in the evening,your body actually becomes energized and it could district your sleep.

    Your body needs to burn calories. usually I take black coffee and if am
    Hungry have a fruit or some makhana and start working out.Have the breakfast after the workout.

    However..if you want to take breakfast and workout out later,wait atleast a couple of hours.

    Nice.. I make South Indian style dal with toor dal using different vegetables everyday. I like your idea of making sprouts and will try using green gram and other types.

    Thank you so much for your tips. I am doing 3 mile walk by Leslie, will try to slowly add yoga and strength exercises. Yes I just want to lose the excess fat and fit in my favorite dress.I am not worried about how much I weigh. My weakness is fried food like murukkus and bajjias and want to eat these in small amounts. May be I can take these with some sprouts or salad.

    Anika can you plz share your signature recipes for Kitchdi,moong dal that you eat for dinner? I want to try some hand pounded rice, preferably sona masoori.Can you suggest a genuine brand that I can try? I want to try a variety for a change.

    I usually just pressure cook the dals with some tomatoes and add onions and ginger,tadka with jeera and add ghee and eat.I eat more of moong dal in night as it is lighter and when you eat it hot..next day there is no problem of constipation and you feel so light too.
    I also like Gujarati dal once in a while.It is very tasty.

    Oh ok got it.Is Gujarati dal made with green moong or the yellow type? I once had Gujarati kitchidi at a restaurant made with rice,yellow moong,veggies and and some type of special tadka.It was so delicious and wondering how it’s made.
