Jalandhar, previously known as Jullundur, is an ancient city of Punjab. It has its existence before the time of Mahabharata. In times of the Mahabharata war, it was the capital of `Trigarttas`, meaning `land between three rivers`.

This old city is the house of another old temple known by the name of Devi Talab Mandir. It is exactly located in the heart of Jalandhar and is entirely dedicated to Goddess Durga. The Devi Talab Mandir has now been renovated and a new temple has been built in its center. Another interesting feature of this temple is that recently a model of Amarnath Yatra has been built in the premises.

Hey all, just add more information to this, please?

You are absolutely correct aahna. This temple is considered sacred by the Hindus and large number of devotees visit the temple every year. One of the main attractions of the temple is the an old tank, considered very holy by the Hindus and which is believed to be constructed some 200 years ago. It is very famous for the 'Hariballabh Sangeet Sammelan' which is celebrated every year in the month of December. This musical festival is being celebrated for the past 125 years in the Devi Talab Mandir premises.Well known classical music proponents belonging to both the fields of instrumental and vocal participate in this festival and perform at this Hariballabh Sangeet Sammelan.

his city is situated in the south-east of Amritsar and was once the capital of an ancient Hindu kingdom. This town has a large seral built in 1857 and is a good to get out and see some Sikh farming villages.

Jalandhar is only 80 Km. from Amritsar. Jalandhar was flourishing city under the Mughals. The monuments in and around the city include the 800 year old man. Nasir Mausoleum, the Devi Talab, a large masonry tank sacred to the Hindus, built about 200 years ago and the four centuries old Jama Masjid.

Jalandhar has the most beautiful Golden Devi Talab Mandir of Durga, which is a place of tourist interest in the town. The temple surrounding by water falls.
