    hi,
I am married in a family where I dont have a mother in law.
My father in law's first cousin passed away last week. The 12 and 13 day ceremonies are not yet performed. I have not been going to temple or doing pooja in my own temple in the home.
however I do say my prayers in another room without doing aarti and prasad.
thats the way of observing till the 13 day pooja is done, right.
now i believe in observing these rituals.
the problem is that my father in law has already started doing pooja in pooja room he gives prasad and does diya also. I told him but he said we can do it now
there is no one else can convince him.
unfortunately the bad results will fall upon me.
    please help

Keep your mind free from any negative thoughts. All customs and traditions are followed in every family, but sometimes if you cant help it then its best not to think negative. No bad results will fall upon you. Dont worry. Its all in the mind.

Your father in law knows the best and nothing bad can befall you as you are not involved in the pooja paath Another thing mourning is carried on for some days as a respect to the departed soul whom we treat as equivalent to god and sending them above is the first and foremost duties hence no pooja is done for 13 days.
