The word interview takes me to the time in 1975 when I was knowing a smattering of Hindi .
It was concluding part of an hour long interview. A scientist a technocrat and a psychologist began asking questions in the area of my specialisation and professional experience.

Browsing my statements from the filled in printed application, the psychologist pressing his tip of his right index finger on the page said, "here you claimed you possess working knowledge of Hindi. I wish you demonstrate. Call from here the peon to come over here"

A bit perplexed but drew courage quickly and loudly uttered,
"Harey peon idhar aahvo ".

The peon darted in - rolling his eyes - stood close to me. The psychologist responded "ok that is fine. Now you instruct him to go out". I was not knowing in Hindi to utter that instruction.

A thought crossed my mind.

I exited from the chamber to the entrance and from there I shouted, "Harey peon idhar aahvo".
