Saw this in Facebook. Just sharing it here as it makes sense. Why blame only modi. Aren't the states CM's all responsible? Screenshot_20210430-101221_Chrome.jpg Screenshot_20210430-101236_Chrome.jpg

Modi is the prime minister for the entire country,Right? He is responsible for the citizens of India, right? While the states are responsible there is limit to the financial capacities and what could be done. Most states are not equipped to deal with pandemic. This was seen even in US where Trump made all the states compete with each other for procurement of resources and we all know how it all went. Federal coordinations are essential in a pandemic.
Modi in all sense took credit for whatever success they had been claiming against covid. Never did he or the BJP say that the state governments were responsible for this so called premature victory and when the tide had gone otherwise which was expected by many epidemiologists they now don’t want to take blame. He has to be held accountable for this catastrophe.
Trump was held responsible for the pandemic mismanagement in USA by the public who made him lose elections.

The Central government has successfully controlled the powers of the state it’s been happening ever since India got independence, even for a simple thing like oxygen distribution the central government has its grip

Delhi oxygen crisis: All you need to know about oxygen supply, distribution

I can write pages on how the state powers have been taken away by the central government, even the simple thing like collecting GST and distribution the center does not keep its promises.

The statement will be true if India followed the taxation model of USA, all the money collected as state tax will stay in the state and all the money collected as tax in the county level will stay in the county, the concept of getting one state wealth and distributing it to another state will only work in India.

‘Not scared of Corona’: Supporters at Modi and Mamata’s massive rallies in Bengal
Corona doesn’t discriminate anyone. The problem is they have all helped the virus mutate and effectively one should be worried about these as some might evade antibodies. Unless the vaccinations go up and herd immunity is achieved the virus will continue to mutate, reinfect and continue to spread.
Most would not have batted an eye if this issue had only made havoc in just public hospitals with less facilities and rendered tragedy to the poor. But this time the catastrophe was on a scale where no amount of wealth or money could help, unless of course they were the super rich elites. This is what happens when governments neglect to invest public health care. Public health infrastructure had been crumbling for years and the effects are felt now.

In the attached covid map, one can see that concentration of covid cases are in Maharashtra, Delhi/UP, Kerala. Spread is reported widely now in other urban centers like Bangalore/Chennai.

None of these top 3-4 states had elections other than Kerala which I can personally vouch for - there were no mass rallys and mask discipline is much better than the neighboring TN which had elections and rallys. TN till now is doing better. UP and Kumbh mela association or because of it's dense population is to be ascertained (UP and KL has similar population density).

Hence my opinion, India was doing well for it's 3rd world conditions with occasional cases here and there till this high r0 double mutant(sic) / b1617 variant started exploding in Maharashtra and is spreading elsewhere now, peaking yet to happen.
