That may be because your thread title is "Crab Recipes" instead of "Crab Recipes?" Anyways here is a crab recipe. It's Goan and called Crab Xacuti. I don't know if it is authentic as I got it from the net. I have tried it and liked it. Ingredients Crabs 2 Dry red chillies 6 Coriander seeds 1 tbsp Cumin seeds 1 tsp Fenugreek seeds 1/2 tsp Whole black peppercorns 1/2 tsp Whole green cardamom 4 Whole cloves 1 Cinnamon stick 1" White poppy seeds 2 tbsp Freshly grated coconut 5 tbsp Onions 2 medium, finely sliced Turmeric powder 1 tsp Vegetable oil 2 tbsp Ghee 1 tbsp Chopped garlic 2 tsp Chopped ginger 2 tsp Salt or to taste Lime juice 2 tbsp Method Clean the crabs cut each into 2 if small, 4 if large. Remove stems from dry red chillies and soak in a little hot water to cover for 10 minutes. Dry roast the coriander seeds, cumin, fenugreek, peppercorns, cardamoms, cloves and cinnamon until fragrant. Roast the white poppy seeds until golden. Roast the coconut until quite dark brown. Finally roast the sliced onion until brown. Put all the roasted ingredients into a blender with the turmeric, dry red chillies and some of the soaking water. Blend to a smooth paste. In a heavy pan heat oil and ghee and fry the ground mixture on low heat, stirring constantly, until oil separates from the mass. Add the crab pieces, salt, lemon juice and just enough water to cover base of pan and prevent spices sticking. Cover and cook for 10 to 15 minutes, turning crab over in the spice mixture from time to time until crab shells are red. Add a little water if necessary but the gravy should be very thick and dark. Serve with plain steamed rice.
