    Clomid is a pill given for ovulation problems... Its not safe to use it without consulting doctor... Also complete tests need to be done before taking clomid...

    i have a friend who have conceived with clomid and she didnt complain any problems(the ki d is also healthy too)...and she delivered second one too.. an year back.. its is very common here... but i heard that doctors dont recommend using it continuously because of the threat of cervical cancers... and some doctors they prescribe 50mg for the first two months and then they increase the dose upto 150mg (3 tablets) per day from 3 to 10 and then they go for hormonal injections.. this is all when your are doing assisted conceiving with reproductive endocrinologist.. where they do ultrasound every month 11 or 12 or 13 th day for mature follicles.. thats all i can tell you with my little knowledge

    * Doctors suggest to try with Clomid for 3 cycle ( max ) , it seems they would suggest to take break for two to 3 cycle after that or follow alternative procedures .     There is some logic on taking pills on different days , what did your doctor sugz ?

    you know what , since you are in 50 mg doctor might consider giving you 100gb as alternative ; but be careful and check for the side effects ;

    Clomid commonly prescribed oral medications to enhance your chances of getting pregnant. While on medications buy the Ovalation Kit from drug store watch for the more fertility days and have intercourse every day or alternate days. Some minor issues are there but not harming. Any way the medication under GYN guidence will not harm you. Talk to your GYN immediately if you have any issues or side effects.
    I don't think they will put you on clomoid for a long time. They do increase the dose randomly and watch for the results. They do give a break for couple of doses.


    Side effects associated with the use of Clomid include: Fertility medications and hormones in general are often blamed for the foul mood increasing hormones can be a recipe for altered moods or mood swings. Most women find these to be temporary, usually lasting just during the actual days that you take the medication or a day or two later.


    Headaches are a problem also associated with hormones. Consult your doctor if you experience severe headaches or if you have any complications like visual disturbances with your headaches. If you are prone to headaches, try to talk to your doctor beforehand about the most appropriate treatment.

    The multiple pregnancy rate associated with the use of Clomid and its companions is about 10 percent. Talk to your practitioner to find out your personal risks because these may not all be related to the medication.


    Hot flashes are annoying, but also a part of the hormone game. You may experience them anytime during therapy.

    First cycle of clomid didnt work for me... Will be starting second cycle from today...
    Doctor has asked to try for 3 cycles. If there is no success she will test the fallopian tubes.
    I am trying to keep my hopes alive. I request everyone to pray for me...

    Clomid is an ovulation induction drug, generally taken for 5 days starting on cycle day 3,4,5,6 or 7. In the US, the doctors start on a dosage of 50 mgs a day, and if that does not work, increase the dosage to 100,150,200 upto a max of 250mg per day.

    I've taken clomid 3 times. Nothing hapened on 50mg, ovulated on 100mg but did not get pregnant, and did not ovulate on 150. Moving on to injectibles now.

    Main side effect of clomid for me was moodiness. I was not a pleasant person to be around while on clomid. On the higher dosage of 100 and 150, I also felt light-headed at times. Also, lost my appetite, which helped in weight loss :). My lining was not affected , according to the doctor, you can take clomid upto 6 times , with the 6 being counted as the times you actually ovulated. So even though I took it 3 times, only 1 counts because I only ovulated once.

    Friend of mine took clomid for 8 cycles to no success. Got pregnant on her first dose of femara.

    From what I've read and been told, clomid is the first line of treatment because it is cheap and is helpful to about 30% of women. If clomid does not work for you, try femara or move on to injectibles. Injectibles are expensive, but the cumulative ovulation rate for injectibles is about 80% after 3 cycles compared to around 50% for clomid. Also, try to get an IUI done to increase your pregnancy rate. This is especially important if you have sperm issues. With ovulation induction and IUI, you can greatly increase your odds of getting pregnant.

    My doctor told me that clomid is a chemical agent which mimics the natural body whereas injectibles are the actual hormones. Therefore, injectibles don't have the side effects associated with clomid such as moodiness and dizzyness. Ofcourse, with ovulation induction via any method, you will have swollen tender breasts and ovaries.

    One thing that has helped me is excercise. Excercise helps your body normalize your hormones and keep them in check. So do make sure and excercise at a moderate level for an average of 45 minutes per day.Just walking won't do it. Running is not good either while trying to conceive, so either elliptical trainer or bicycle is best. Also, make sure and do some strength training / weight-lifting to increase your muscle mass which is also critical in helping out bodies use the clomid / hormones more efficiently. And remember to drink plenty of water too! And try to eat as much organic food as possible.

    If you have PCOS, then avoid moong dal, raw foods and non-organic dairy products. PCOS is caused by coldness/dampness in the body (chinese herbal medicine definition) so avoid eating cold foods such as the ones mentioned above. Drink water at room temperature. Don't eat salads. Drink only organic milk. Estrogenic foods such as tomatoes, potatoes, squash, chickpeas, eggplants etc should also be avoided. And wheat too. East sprouted wheat bread instead of chappatis or even white rice is ok. Counter-intuitive I know to eat rice rather than wheat but it has worked wonders for me! Cuts your appetite and helps you lose weight without too much effort. The list of good vegetables include cauliflower, cabbage, kohlrabi,
    green leafy vegetables, zucchini, onions etc. Let me know if you want an extensive list of the good abd bad foods.

    Try following the low glycemic index diet. Here is an example of my daily allowance per this diet. I am allowed 5 carb serving a day, where 1 serving would be 2 slices or bread or 1/2 cup of rice. If you follow this diet, you will automatically limit your caloric intake to around 1400-1500 per day, which combined with excercise, should help you lose around 1 pound per week

    Clomid is an ovulation induction drug, generally taken for 5 days starting on cycle day 3,4,5,6 or 7. In the US, the doctors start on a dosage of 50 mgs a day, and if that does not work, increase the dosage to 100,150,200 upto a max of 250mg per day.

    I've taken clomid 3 times. Nothing hapened on 50mg, ovulated on 100mg but did not get pregnant, and did not ovulate on 150. Moving on to injectibles now.

    Main side effect of clomid for me was moodiness. I was not a pleasant person to be around while on clomid. On the higher dosage of 100 and 150, I also felt light-headed at times. Also, lost my appetite, which helped in weight loss :). My lining was not affected , according to the doctor, you can take clomid upto 6 times , with the 6 being counted as the times you actually ovulated. So even though I took it 3 times, only 1 counts because I only ovulated once.

    Friend of mine took clomid for 8 cycles to no success. Got pregnant on her first dose of femara.

    From what I've read and been told, clomid is the first line of treatment because it is cheap and is helpful to about 30% of women. If clomid does not work for you, try femara or move on to injectibles. Injectibles are expensive, but the cumulative ovulation rate for injectibles is about 80% after 3 cycles compared to around 50% for clomid. Also, try to get an IUI done to increase your pregnancy rate. This is especially important if you have sperm issues. With ovulation induction and IUI, you can greatly increase your odds of getting pregnant.

    My doctor told me that clomid is a chemical agent which mimics the natural body whereas injectibles are the actual hormones. Therefore, injectibles don't have the side effects associated with clomid such as moodiness and dizzyness. Ofcourse, with ovulation induction via any method, you will have swollen tender breasts and ovaries.

    One thing that has helped me is excercise. Excercise helps your body normalize your hormones and keep them in check. So do make sure and excercise at a moderate level for an average of 45 minutes per day.Just walking won't do it. Running is not good either while trying to conceive, so either elliptical trainer or bicycle is best. Also, make sure and do some strength training / weight-lifting to increase your muscle mass which is also critical in helping out bodies use the clomid / hormones more efficiently. And remember to drink plenty of water too! And try to eat as much organic food as possible.

    If you have PCOS, then avoid moong dal, raw foods and non-organic dairy products. PCOS is caused by coldness/dampness in the body (chinese herbal medicine definition) so avoid eating cold foods such as the ones mentioned above. Drink water at room temperature. Don't eat salads. Drink only organic milk. Estrogenic foods such as tomatoes, potatoes, squash, chickpeas, eggplants etc should also be avoided. And wheat too. East sprouted wheat bread instead of chappatis or even white rice is ok. Counter-intuitive I know to eat rice rather than wheat but it has worked wonders for me! Cuts your appetite and helps you lose weight without too much effort. The list of good vegetables include cauliflower, cabbage, kohlrabi,
    green leafy vegetables, zucchini, onions etc. Let me know if you want an extensive list of the good abd bad foods.

    Try following the low glycemic index diet. Here is an example of my daily allowance per this diet. I am allowed 5 carb serving a day, where 1 serving would be 2 slices or bread or 1/2 cup of rice. If you follow this diet, you will automatically limit your caloric intake to around 1400-1500 per day, which combined with excercise, should help you lose around 1 pound per week
