I did not get my son circumcised...

If you decide to get it done they you need to get it some atleast by the end of his first month. Penis undergoes a growth spurt in the first few months of life..So if you wait longer then it will hard to retract the foreskin.

It should be done as soon as possible after birth..

No, we did not get our son circumcised. And no, the previously thought "medical benefits" have been proven not to be that beneficial. Most boys in europe are not circumcised. We did quite a bit research..the only reason we were considering was due to the locker room factor. as DS grows and he will inevitably be changing in the locker rooms and we did not want him to feel cornered or teased about him being different. (At that age, any lecture on "self esteem" or "hold your own" may not work ) But then we figured tht a growing majority is not being circumcised and DS will have to learn to accept the fact that most Indians are not circumcised and live with that!

    hope this helps

    hi priya ,
i too know a boy who got circumcised as a child because of medical reasons .
this is the reason why i thought it would be better to get it done when kids are very young , apparently they might suffer less ( at least thats what I feel ) .
