    something new

    Dear Mrs Chitra,

Thank you for all yr wonderful recipes. I have tried semiya uppuma and rava dosai- both came out well, but I must learn to make rava dosai better (in shape).

Must say that I have never tried the mint-onion rasam and look forward to doing so. Also the tip on adding lemon juice to pori was totally new and shall try that too. Good you posted pori since Kartigai is coming.

    Thanks.
    Vidya

Meena, that was a big pumpkin !

Dear meena, I did'nt weigh it since somebody gave me a home grown vegetable. I remember I grated atleast 6 cups, which after cooking & straining came to about3 cups.
    Regards,
    Chithra.

    damrot halwa

    Dear Chitra,

I just finished preparing the pumpkin halwa and tasted it too.
It was yum. I've sent half of it to my hubby's office so he can share with his colleagues. Other half shld surprise my daughter this evening.

I grated 3 cups and after pressure cooking for a whistle and straining it reduced to 2 cups and hence it was easy to measure 1/3rd measurement of sugar and khoa.

Just one last query, can I use the pumpkin with green skin or shld I use only yellow skinned pumpkin. The one I used today, I shared with friends and neighbours but I have 2 more pumpkins in the plant. One is almost turning yellow and other still green and small. would like to try this again.

Do we follow the same procedure for bottle guord also??????????

Next I would try potato halwa. I've used grated potato in cakes and it tastes so good so striaght away I shall head to ur potato recipe.

now the thanks giving........ how shld I do it Chitra??

    Thank you sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo much.

Meena, you are really good !

    Dear meena,
Nice to receive a good feed back.
For this halva, ripe one with yellow skin is more suitable.
Yes, this method suits bottlegourd as well.
Why not you try olan & palkootu with the green skinned one - that will be ideal.
    Regards,
    Chithra.

    Dhal dhokli..kemcho:)

    Dear Chitraji,
I was so happy to see your recipe for dhal dhokli. I recenlty was with this gujerati lady who said she made dhal dhokli every weekend for her family. I had not heard about it till then and asked her how she made it and she gave a rough description but did not offer to give me a detail recipe nor did she give me a sample of it!!! Now I can make it myself, thanks to you:)

    Dear Chitra,

The tomato rice and the vegetable cutlets that I prepared for my husband's potluck lunch in office came out really well. In fact, this was the first time I prepared cutlets. Still it came out really good and I got appreciations from his friends. Thank you very much. I could not write to you last week since I was out of station.

    Regards
