The Diwali eve is called Chhoti Diwali or Narak- Chaturdashi. It falls on the day after Dhanteras, i.e. on the fourteenth day of the “krishnapaksha” in the Hindu month of Kartik. Chhoti Diwali is observed to mark the triumph of Lord Krishna over Narkasur, a king of demons. This day is also celebrated to mark Hanuman Jayanti or the birthday of Hanuman Ji. Chhoti Diwali is also believed to be the day on which Hanuman Ji arrived at Ayodhya to convey the good news of Lord Ram’s much-awaited return. Goddess Laxmi is worshipped along with Narayan on this day. Homes, shops and offices are decorated with diyas and people have fun with crackers. What do you like the most about Chhoti Diwali?
