hi every1 i m travelling 2 londn for the 1st time. should i take indian masalas? is it allowed to take spices while travelling?:confused2: thnx
yes, you can carry properly sealed spices, but don't get tooo much, you will get everything you need at Indian stores here. a pressure cooker would be more important . and a chakla belan, though.. you can get those here too... but not as easily.
You will not be allowed to bring poppy seeds since it is considered as a drug. Please google for the items that are banned during customs.
My suggestion would be to NOT bring any indian masalas or spices with you. You can get almost everything in London (unless it is a special recipe - then consider making it yourself at home). some home-made pickles are ok but dont overload yourself with them. As for cooking utensils, a pressure cooker, a sumeet mixie and some basic cooking items would be enough and you can buy the rest locally. Other things like plates, spoons, glasses - according to convenience. you get them here but will need to pay a lot more for them than what they cost in India. Best to bring medicines with you since you cannot buy anything more than aspirin over the counter without a doctors prescription. If you need to take some medicines regularly, if you talk to your GP he can prescribe them for you or get a letter from your doctors in India explaining why you need the medicines.
You can bring Indian spices and masala to london, specially pandian foods masala it should be tightly sealed and also it available in variable quantities depends upon your usage
hii..u will get all spices and masalas here..but if u looking for particular thing better to bring with u..if ur edicted to tea masala or something bring ur own..better to purchase innerware in india rather than here..(lill bit expensive here)..
