Whats the difference between Cane Sugar and Brown Sugar that I see in American groceries? And is any one of them equivalent to Jaggery that we use in Indian cooking?

    Thanks in advance...

Cane sugar is the normal sugar used in daily life. Brown sugar is the unrefined sugar that contains molasses, it’s also used as narcotic drug, it’s also known as unrefined Heroin. Both are extracted from the sugarcane.

Both these sugars are not equivalent to Jaggery’s taste

Hi FallenAngel33 - thanks for your reply. I see both these type of sugars being sold in packets in US groceries like Walmart/Target. I understand there is a Brown Sugar which is a narcotic drug, but this one is a sugar like the white sugar we use in India, I see this two type of sugars being sold here.

Other friends staying in US for long - pls provide your comments on my qtn...
