    Hi Ladies,

Can olive oil (or any oil) can be used for massage on my 5 month old baby in this hot summer also?

Please advice. If any alternative, do let me know.

    Deepchiran.

Doesn't Olive oil darken the skin?
Or may be it is due to the oiliness that it leaves ?

Hey, I had the same experience with olive oil. It seemed to darken my DS's skin. I think it is just the high viscosity. The skin looks greasy. I use almond oil now. It is a lot lighter and just as good.

the logical part of my brain is wondering at this, Rums. Isn't the skin colour determined by the content of melanin. Does olive have some kind of colouring agent in them? I think it is our conditioning because we keep reading about "olive skin" when they talk about darker skinned europeans?!? I use "nallennai" now a days and it does look like my skin is tanned, but then I also have very little dry skin now!

Tikka - I think it is what gauri said ..... it is greasy and hence the skin may appear to be darker and may be oily.

    Deepchiran,

Olive and coconut oils can be used this summer as they are cooling in nature. Do not keep any oils over the body, just massage and wash off immediately.
