I am 18 weeks pregnant... Since day 1 of my pregnancy, m having issues... One among them is lack of sleep... During the first trimester, I used to sleep at 4 in the morning everyday because I wake up constantly at night to vomit n I dont get sleep... I sleep for hardly 4 or 5 hours everyday... N sleep for an hour in the afternoon... Now, m in the second trimester n I still have vomitting, then sleeping sideways is really difficult n hence m not getting sleep... Even now it 12.30 at night n m awake... M just not getting any sleep... I don't know what to do... I tried taking a warm shower at night before goin to bed, but it does not make any difference... Now, m really worried if this could cause any developmental problems in my kid... M I hurting my baby?? Please help me... Thanks...

@inlove : we should sleep enough..but if you are not able to sleep..then too..just lie on bed early..it will reduce your tiredness and stress...sleeping sideways..is sometimes difficult..

Hi dear, don't worry. It won't affect your baby.Try to do some walking for 30 minutes in the evening .Your body will become tired and it will need some rest then and it would help you get a sound sleep.

I think lack of sleeping may be due to less physical activities.May be others can give better suggestions.

    Hi,

don't worry dear.... everything will be alright... but you should get enough rest, just lie down.
Try to walk everyday. Listen to some music or read books before you go to sleep.

I vomited till 9 months, had sleepless nights and my baby was perfectly alright(thanks God).

    Regards,
    Ansu

Oh dear!! I am having exactly the opposite thing going on, i.e. I feel very sleepy..Last night I slept at 9:30 PM and woke up at 5:30 AM..:hide:

I think each individual is different. As long as you are not stressed, and you are able to relax (even if you are not sleeping), your baby will be fine:)

I sometimes feel lack of sleep on a weekend, when I am not very active. On weekdays since I have a hectic job, I get tired soon. Try walking or now that you are in your 2nd trimester, you can do some prenatal yoga (but check with your doc first).

BTW, why are you not able to sleep sideways? I am assuming that you might not be too big right now.

Ok, when I dont get sleep, I dont even lie down, I just sit in front of the computer or I go watch TV or talk over the phone... Does tht cause stress?? Other than this, I have no stress of any sort... But tell me, not lying down at night n doing all these will cause stress on my baby?? M I not lettin my baby also sleep???
