Can H1B start a company?

    My husband is in H1B visa status and I am a H4 visa holder. Do any one of you know whether my husband can start a company here in the US?

    Or is it necessary to have Green Card or Citizenship status?

    The official party line...

    Akalya,

    The official party line is that your husband can start a company but he cannot do any work for the company. He cannot make sales calls or sign checks etc. As soon as he starts his company, he needs to hire a CEO, who should do all the work. This CEO should be a Green Card holder or a Citizen.

    Yes you can. My husband himself is a H1B Visa worker in US and he owns 2 companies.

    Me and my husband both are on H1B.We are intrested to open a consulting company.What is the necessary documents to open and is there any site which will give a clear pictue. I appreciate if some one could response to this post
