Hi Kasturi, after removing the outermost layer,will get brown rice. The complete milling and polishing that converts brown rice into white rice destroys 67% of the vitamin B3, 80% of the vitamin B1, 90% of the vitamin B6, half of the manganese, half of the phosphorus, 60% of the iron, and all of the dietary fiber and essential fatty acids. The rice is little bit thick when compared to white rice...so needs 8-9 whistles to cook in a cooker...its available in Nilgiris.... Regards, satya

I would like to add a very interesting information about brownrice.Chemba ari (rice)or chemba aval(flakes/flat rice) if taken regularly by a family,peace prevails in the house! It is full of Vitamin B.....men won't get angry and shout, wives will be happy, children will be healthy and so Happy family! Vitamin B12 deficiency can even lead to optical nerve problems.
