It should be okay to give sponge baths for a few weeks initially if you feel he is too small. Newborns don't get very dirty and as long as you are cleaning the diaper area, neck area, under arms etc it should be fine.

I too used the Sure Comfort that pmahensa described. It comes with a cradle like support for newborns. I put it on the bathroom sink.

    Hi Anitha,

Hope you and your kid are doing good.

Hey actually this bath tub is very useful ma, i have been using this one from my daughter's 2nd month to tillher 13th month....Its was very useful and even myhubby was able to give her bath in this...

I would suggest this for you too...we can even fix this in Bath tub....

I got mine from Walmart for $14 pink colour...this is in 2008 August...

    Happy New year..

Anitha, I was asked to weight till the child was 3 kg or 6 lb something before I started giving baths. I waited till the child was 2 months old before I started giving him baths. For whatever reason known best to him, he preferred the traditional lap baths. DS's bath tub is now being used as a water feature in my garden ;-)

Even I use the "Sure comforts" bath tub...I put it on the kitchen sink..It's so easy to bathe DS in that..
When DS was born, he had pneumonia, so the docs said no baths until few days and until the umbilical cord falls off..It took 3 weeks for the cord to fall off..So basically I didn't bathe DS the first month..Just did sponge baths..
Only from 2nd month onwards I started bathing him...The infant bath tub is a blessing.

    :thumbsupAnitha,

Rithik will be sweaty by then and may need the summer baths :) It will be much easier with the neck support to just lay on the bath mat and give bath.

Right Lee.. I just want his neck to be fixed.. I mean his head should stand w/o our support.. Then it would be easy for me to give him tub bath :)..
My mom says by 4th mon end his head would be fixed like? is it so?
