I can not say how I missed this snippet. Here is one example. Men do not normally envy what other man is wearing but women do. Here is a lady who never praises any saree shown to her by her friends. All she does is say it is good. There can be two reasons, she can not afford a similar saree because it is too costly or she does not like it and does not want to displease her friend. Is it envy or being practical?
: ) I am in that situation when I am shown expensive jewelry or sarees. I can technically afford those but would never spend that much on them. So, I say "looks good" as a safe response. Being practical to ward off envy. : )
