    Frankly, these diets do not work. I think the whole Atkins corporation went bankrupt for a good reason because the whole Atkins diet is unhealthy and a short term thing. You need a balanced diet combined with exercise and that is the only diet and lifestyle that will work to lose weight or keep you fit.
    Do not buy into all these canned diet miracle plans as their only objective is to market their ware.
    Eat sensibly, have a balanced diet (you need complex carbohydrates in addition to protein) and exercise regularly if you are trying to stay fit or stay in shape.

    I disagree.... everything works as long as you are sure that you are not going to accpt defeat ... :) .. so here goes my story...and victory ...hope this helps...i have tried following atkins as close as possible..

    I was searching for "no carb indian diet" and landed on this discussion ladies. Couldn't help but registered. ...Still not too sure whether as I should have..as this site loudly says... "indusladies" ---well no worries...i guess now i can claim to have gone --where no man went before" .. [​IMG]

    anyways.... the subject at hand... i have now in 10 months have successfully lost 19 kg weight (16 +3) ...and now stuck with last 4 kgs..so trying innovations with diet/exercises... i am posting my experience...hope this story helps you ..

    to begin with --Diet word is a misnomer :drowning ... the moment we say "diet" our senses (all six and another 15 more) get a feeling that something very dear is about to be taken away from us. ..how does one lose weight and why am I talking about it here.... I am 35 and have been about 23 kgs overweight past 6-7 yrs... [​IMG] So ... after "thinking" about losing weight for a while ..one fine day i bought the best reebok in business and went out .. took a looooooong half km walk..and came back home and rewarded myself a really big dinner [​IMG] and then began the romance between me, the walking track and a rewarding dinner...day after day the love grew ..and in the process grew my tummy . ... anyways to cut the the long story short ... the sanity finally kicked in and i realized...to loose weight i must do some maths. If I could create a negative calorie balance of about 1000 cal per day, every week I will be able to loose about half a kg. For that ... day by day ..and everyday ...I reduced 500 cal from my diet and started slow joggin about 2 to 3 kms per day (not at one stretch -- its a walking track of 400 mtr...so I would jog initially 300 mtr and walk 100 mtr..and carry on this cycle for about 10 rounds making it a 3 km workout) ... that was about 8-9 months back. Today I have lost a total of 16 kgs and I can run non-stop for about 6 kms per day ... I have also added strength training to my cardio...I expect to hit my target weight in maximum three more months...and since I am following a scientific approach I know I will not regain my lost weight. I eat a heavy breakfast.... no lunch (only one apple/guava) …every two hours I take 2 thin arrowroot biscuit and I am completely off sweets/fried food... I take early dinner (a brown brd sandwh) and eat nothing after 7 pm. Once a week I eat whatever I want including the most sinful chock pastry possible. ....
